Protecting Oneself from the Rogue Occultist
As seekers, students and believers in the Occult, one of the essential things to watch out for are what we in Mysterium call, the Rogue occultist. Although there are many who practice the arts of Magick, Psychism and the arcane the thing that Separates a benevolent practitioner from a Rogue one is one word. ABUSE.
Abuse of knowledge, power and ability is rampant in the Esoteric community. Mere fortune tellers have been reported to have either swindled people out of horrendous amounts of money, False Gurus have manipulated naive students into acts of sex and sometimes violence all in the name of “Enlightenment” The list goes on and on about how dedicated students fell victim to the acts of abusive yet manipulative teachers, mentors, and false prophets simply because they were uninformed. Before we go any further let us state some important points you should consider before entered any Esoteric Organization or Partaking of any Occult Service. This excerpt from a book called the Paths to the Invisible House is a helpful bit of information to keep you all safe from the wiliest attempts of Rogue occultists of all forms
If you think you are being used, abused, or taken advantage of, then you probably are. Self-preservation is a sacred law. Do not follow others to a needless death of the mind or body. Death will come in its own time and place. Here follows a list of the ten principal methods for recognizing dangerous groups, societies, orders, covens, or cults:
Points to Watch out for:
1. Exhibit signs of paranoia or persecution.
2. Domination of Leaders over Members.
3. Infallibility declared by Leaders.
4. Unreasonable demands for money or ‘worldly possessions’.
5. Any forms of critical censorship regarding Leaders or Members.
6. Methods used to obtain, keep and return Members.
7. Violence used to command obedience.
8. Any type of demand for sex.
9. Removing decisions and personal responsibility from Members.
10. Any signs that the principles taught are not followed.
Its safe to say that the dangers in the occult world are real, but by practicing a tad bit of skepticism you keep yourself safe by following what was stated above.
